Barangay Canada co-founder and community advocate Kabarangay Kris Ontong was recently interviewed by CityNews Winnipeg to share insights on the Filipino-Canadian vote.
“While many in our community tend to be private about their political views, we are consistently discerning—especially when it comes to a candidate’s track record, community presence, and genuine approachability,” Ontong stated on social media.
“We may not always speak loudly about politics, but we pay attention. We care deeply about leaders who listen and who are capable of addressing the real issues that impact our families and our future.”

Ontong also offered his perspective on the hotly contested race in Winnipeg North—the federal riding with the highest concentration of Filipino voters per capita. The race features longtime MP Kevin Lamoureux and Rachel Punzalan, a respected Filipino-Canadian lawyer, philanthropist, and community leader running under the Conservative banner.
