It’s official: this year’s Kultivation Festival is now in the books! With well-attended events held over the weekend, the festival organizers can finally claim bragging rights to a trumphant return for 2022. All eyes will be on a more ambitious staging next year. Check out the accompanying video for a sampling of one of the included events — a lumpia-eating contest held last Saturday at a summer fair in Northern Winnipeg.
The festival served up a diverse selection of activities from August 26 to 28 ranging from a Garden Tour Experience via Masagana Flower Farm & Studio, a Drag Tiki Bar and Ballroom Dancing on Friday, to a Youth Entrepreneurs Forum, a lumpia-eating contest and a pancit battle on Saturday and Sunday. Whichever event patrons attended, they surely experienced a dose of the culinary talents and artistry of the second generation of Filipino-Manitobans that they will not soon forget.
