The Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards is touted as “the only national awards program that celebrates the achievements of inspiring Canadian immigrants.” The winners were chosen after an extensive process of nomination, judging, shortlisting and public online voting. A diverse judging panel of past winners draw up a shortlist of seventy-five finalists from the hundreds of nominations that were received from all over Canada. The organizers reported that over 60,000 online votes were cast on their website at canadianimmigrant.ca. The 25 winners were then chosen based on a combination of votes and judges’ merit scores.
