A new musical about the Filipino Immigrant Experience in Canada will debut this Saturday, October 22, at the Seven Oaks Performing Arts Centre in Winnipeg.
Entitled ‘New Beginnings in a New World,’ the live onstage show is about the journey of a group of Filipinos who decide to leave behind their native country and move to Canada to begin life anew as immigrants.
Written and directed by well-known Winnipeg concert artist and actress, Dr. Tricia Magsino Barnabé, New Beginnings in a New World tells its stories as a musical revue — bringing together favourite songs from musicals, movies and more. This article’s video clip was from Barnabé’s visit to the Barangay Canada video podcast in November of last year where she shared information about her new project.
Performances of ‘New Beginnings in a New World’ are slated for October 22nd and 23rd. All proceeds will go toward funding the various humanitarian programs of Answering the Cry of the Poor (ANCOP).
