As Winnipeg voters prepare to cast their ballots in Wednesday’s elections, mayoral candidate Glen Murray continues his lead over his rivals, getting through a rough patch where his leadership style and his behavior at his last workplace came under fire.
In late September, Murray sat down for a brief Q & A with Barangay Canada to share his views about Winnipeg’s Filipino community, as well as the other ethnic communities that contribute to the city’s cultural diversity.
Asked about his priorities if elected Mayor, Murray answered that he would focus on public safety and infrastructure. He pointed out that much of Winnipeg’s violent crime and cases of theft are related to the high levels of methamphetamine addiction in parts of the city.
The interview was made possible in partnership with Murray’s campaign team and Ethnorama News Winnipeg whose editorial staffers were in attendance to cover the event.
Voting places for the municipal and school board elections on October 26 will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. More information such as voting eligibility and ID requirements can be found at https://www.electionsmanitoba.ca/en/Voting.
