Winnipeg artists coming from diverse musical genres will perform this evening at ISKOLAR Music & Arts Night.
The benefit concert which will be held at the Seven Oaks Performing Arts Centre is organized by the Seven Oaks Education Foundation (SOEF) and Filipino Music & Arts Association of Canada Inc. (FMAACI). The event aims to raise funds for their Music and Arts Leadership Award program.
Concert-goers can look forward to an eclectic mix of folk music from Levy Abad and Daniel Tabo-oy, indie lo-fi alternative rock from Humous, power pop punk from The 12/21, a combo of pop and old jazz/soul from Jovelle Balani, and many more. The list of all the performers is shown on the poster above.
In a related development, FMAACI also did a soft launch of its new website at https://fmaaci.ca. Association president Ernesto Ofiaza, Jr. is hopeful that this would provide more accessible information for the community.
“The new website is a work in progress but it already packs enough information so people can know more about FMAACI and its projects like this benefit concert,” Ofiaza said. He explains further that although the association has maintained a Facebook page since July of 2014, non-Facebook users can now connect with the association through the website.
ISKOLAR Music & Arts Night starts at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening as early as 6 p.m. Barangay Canada, through its provincial presence Barangay Manitoba, is a proud media partner.
