Back in the Philippines, the shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) continues to be an issue. Rappler reports that volunteers and medical workers have resorted to using alternative materials like plastic bags and recyclable plastic containers to protect themselves from being infected by the coronavirus.
In the spirit of bayanihan, kababayans around the world have answered the pleas for donations of additional PPEs by organizing fundraisers. On crowdfunding platform GoFundMe, there are currently 56 ongoing fundraisers for this purpose.
Some groups on the other hand are doing the fundraising within Facebook itself. One example is the alumni class of 1990 from Quezon City Science High School who have already raised roughly CAD 6,700 through their Facebook page Bayanihan Laban sa Covid19 – Quezon City Science Batch 90.
